Backpack Blessing
In an effort to better serve our community here in Kingstree, the Evangelism team will be starting a new outreach program that will replace our Hands of Christ ministry. We are so excited to be starting “Backpack Blessings,” a program addressing food poverty among local children, and will be partnering with Anderson Primary School thanks to the help of the principal and guidance counselor. To begin, they will be selecting 10 students who are most in need of assistance. Starting August 30th, every Friday, these students will go home with a backpack full of non-perishable food items that should feed them through the weekend. We have come up with several ways that our congregation can contribute or be involved so that we can ensure the success of this program:
“Backpack Blessing Sundays” – We will be asking the members of the congregation to donate specific food items each week (or monthly?).
Commit a day, a month (or quarter?) to help pack backpacks-many hands make light work!
“Adopt a Child:” Pay $260.00 for a child’s meals for a whole year, $35.00 for a month, or give multiple months. Give the gift of a Sponsored Child for Christmas!
An Amazon Wish List has also been set up for our church and this program which you can find following the link below:

Our hope is to build and grow this program so we can continue to reach more children in need and have a lasting impact on our community
