Cheerful Giving
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 says, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver”.
Church, it is clear from the outpouring of your support for hurricane relief, that you are cheerful givers. Thank you to all who dropped off cleaning supplies, medical supplies, water, blankets and food. Also, thank you to everyone who made financial contributions so that more supplies could be purchased. What may have seemed like meager gifts to you, are prized possessions to those in need. You may recall me saying in worship that all the donations were dropped off at First Presbyterian Church in Waynesville, NC. Parts of Waynesville experienced destruction from the storm but the neighboring town of Canton has severe damage. The church in Waynesville will make sure that your generous donations will get to the people who can use them the most. And there may be opportunities for us to do more together in the future. We will wait to hear back from FPC Waynesville. This is one of the wonderful things about the PCUSA church. We can reach out to our sister churches and partner in ministry together. Together we sow generously and reap generously, all for the kingdom of God! Thank you again for your generous hearts!
Peace, Josie
