Let Us Give Thanks!
Henry David Thoreau once said, “I am grateful for what I am and have. My thanksgiving is perpetual”. I mentioned in worship on Sunday that we are entering into a season of gratitude. Everyday our blessings abound. Everyday we have a reason to pause and thank God. Sometimes we are mindful of the little things, like rainfall or golden Ginko trees on an Autumn day. Sometimes we are mindful of the mundane, like taking a dog for a walk, a quick trip to the grocery store, or a hot cup of coffee. Sometimes we are mindful of the poignant, like a bucket list trip, a reunion with extended family or old friends, or the birth of the first grandchild. And in all times we are mindful of precious moments with loved ones, friends, church family, and the abiding presence of God, who loves us more than we will ever know. In gratitude, we give thanks for all of these perpetual moments in life and more.
On November 13, we have an opportunity to gather together as a church family to give thanks. Friendsgiving has become a special tradition at WPC when everyone shares a meal together and takes time to express gratitude for this year and our journeys together. I hope that you will be able to join us for dinner in Grace Hall at 6:00. Please bring a side or a desert to share (You are welcomed to bring both if you really want to!) and the church will provide meat for the meal. Then with thankful hearts we will give thanks!
Peace, Josie
