Many Hands
Have you ever heard the expression, “Many hands make the work light”? The origins of this saying are found in Nehemiah 3. The Jews returned to Jerusalem after the exile in Babylon. They found the wall surrounding Jerusalem, as well as the gates and many structures, were destroyed by fire. The tribes all rallied together. Men, women, and even priests took different portions of the 2.5 mile long wall and built it back piece by piece, brick by brick, beam by beam. Because so many were involved, no one group shouldered the bulk of the job. Instead, with so many hands laboring for God, the work was light.
I have watched all of you this week during VBS. Certainly there was no 2.5 mile long wall in need of repair, but there were many hands (and hearts) involved with our nightly activities. From arts and crafts, games, storytelling, music, to decorations, and all of the yummy food, many hands have helped to lighten the load this week. It was a beautiful thing to see, and we are forever grateful. Thank you to all for helping to nurture and care for the children of this church and the community. Thank you for sharing God’s love.
Peace, Josie
