During June and July, Blakely and I had the joy of meeting each week with our five WPC rising sixth-grade girls. We also welcomed a friend from KUMC to join us. Every week included something fun—making slime, grabbing drinks at Kingstree Nutrition, enjoying lunch at Jarrito’s, and, of course, learning plenty of TikTok dances!
Most importantly, we always made time for a Bible lesson, Scripture memory, and prayer. We also wanted the girls to discover the joy of serving others. Several weeks, we visited church members to brighten their day with a smile and a visit. This week, we spent time at Vital Aging in Kingstree, where the girls entertained the guests with songs and dances. The clients told us how much they enjoyed the visit, and seeing these sweet girls praising Jesus through song and dance while bringing joy to others brought tears to my eyes.
People often joke about the middle school years, but Blakely and I learned something special this summer. We thought we were leading these girls in growing closer to God and serving others. Instead, they taught us just as many lessons through their kindness, enthusiasm, and servant hearts. They are truly a special group of young ladies.
As they begin their journey into middle school, we hope you will join us in praying for each of them and their families. May God guide their steps, strengthen their faith, and remind them always that they are deeply loved by Him.
