News from E&S
Mark your calendars… It is the start to a very busy season for the Evangelism and Service Team and we need your help!
After seeing the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, we felt our help would be beneficial to the people of Western North Carolina. We plan to send boxes to those affected, children as well as adults. If you would like to be involved, you can bring items to the church and the E&S team will pack it. You can also pick up a box and label from the office and pack a box yourself. Suggestions of items to pack will be included in the Binder. We have not yet finalized a date for when we will be sending out the boxes and will keep the congregation updated.
Operation Christmas Child is a program very near and dear to our hearts and though we will not be packing boxes at the church this year, we are still encouraging the congregation to participate individually. You can pick up a box and a label from the office, pack the shoebox at home, and return it to the office by November 17th. We will then deliver all the boxes to Kingstree Baptist Church in time for the National Collection Week for OCC. A list of items to pack will be included in the Binder. Another way to help would be a donation to cover the cost of shipping which is $10 per box.
We have also started collecting donations again this year for Thornwell Emphasis Month. Thornwell is a Presbyterian ministry located in Clinton, SC that provides a safe, nurturing environment for children and their families in need. Turkey banks for our children to collect quarters will be provided in the Sunday School classes on Nov 17th. Donations are also welcome to be placed in the offering plate, brought to the office or brought to Thanksgiving breakfast.
Please help us fill our buckets on December 8th for Coins for Christmas. If you know of a need in our community you may reach out to anyone on the Evangelism team or get in touch with the office. In the past we have brightened the lives of many families and individuals through this program. This has been a blessing not only to those who receive but also to those that give.
We are happy to announce that the number of children being helped by our Backpack Blessings program has increased from 12 to 20 this year. It is a joy to see this program grow, but this also means our need for supplies has increased. Consider giving a gift in the form of a donation for that special someone at Christmas time by “adopting a child” for a year! Or honor the memory of a loved one through donating. Food can also be purchased through our Amazon Wish list.
So many ways to be involved this holiday season!
