Rev. R. David Ruth
The Reverend David Ruth has made a circuitous route to Williamsburg Presbyterian Church for the second time. He is a native of Lumberton, NC, and is a University of North Carolina at Wilmington graduate. Before the ink was dry on his diploma, he married Eva Monroe, whom he met at a Presbyterian summer camp. From there they moved to Wilson, NC, where David worked for BB&T and Eva taught school. The next move was to a career in the automobile business in Fayetteville, NC. At the age of forty, he enrolled in Duke Divinity School and was called by Williamsburg Presbyterian Church. During that time, Eva answered the call to ministry attending Campbell Divinity School. Upon ordination, she served the Lake City Presbyterian Church. After nine years at WPC, he was called by First Presbyterian Church in Lumberton, NC. Eva assumed the title of Director of Program and Pastoral Care.
David and Eva retired in 2024, but after eight months they felt the call back to Kingstree. It has been a joyful homecoming. David and Eva have three married children and eight grandchildren. His hobbies include reading, preaching, playing golf and visiting the elderly.
