Nora Ephron said, “A family is a group of people who eat the same thing for dinner.” This week as we start back with Wednesday Night Happenings as a church family, we will eat the same thing together for dinner. Not only will we eat a meal together, we will also savor each other’s company as we commune with one another and with Christ. A meal together is common, even mundane because it is a daily occurrence, but it is also holy. And we give thanks for these beautiful encounters around tables together.
Following the meal to nurture our bodies and relationships Wednesday night, we will nurture our souls as we feast upon God’s Word. Turning to the Old Testament, we will learn about the communal life of the Israelites through food and meals. Everyday meals were common and even mundane for them as well, but the meals shared in community were holy because the food and the encounters connected them to their history and their faith. Leaning into the Jewish festivals that share their stories we will taste and see the goodness and faithfulness of God through the ages for the first weeks of Wednesday Night Happenings. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Peace, Josie
