Well Done!
Sunday was a very busy, energy filled day! We ordained and installed new officers in worship and during Sunday School we celebrated Rally Day. Thank you to the Fishers/Seekers class for coming up with this great idea and hosting the wonderful fundraiser breakfast for Kimmy Hutchinson. Anna Brown and Hailey Wilson coordinated the meal. CDM Pantry donated a number of food items, and many talented cooks provided a nourishing meal. Most important of all, because of your generosity $1600 was collected to help the Hutchinson family. Look at what we can accomplish when our hearts of love lead to the actions of our hands!
Generosity can be contagious and I just learned that there is another way that our hearts of love can lead to action. The Sisters at the Felician Center are helping the Tejero family relocate to Kingstree from the Philippines. This family lived in the community for five years and the mother taught Special Education at the public school. When her US visa expired, she had to return to her native land so the Tejero’s left all of their possessions to another Filipino family. As it turns out she was reissued another US visa to return to work in this community but they will have to start all over with furniture because they gave theirs away. The Sisters are coordinating an effort to get a house ready for this family of five by Sept. 23rd. This is a community wide effort. Many hands make the load light. Our church has been asked to help find/provide furnishings for the Master Bedroom and a screened in porch. We are looking for the following:
Queen size mattress and box springs
2 bedside tables
Queen size mattress pad
Chest of drawers
Floor lamp
Outdoor furniture
If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, or would be interested in giving money to purchase some of these items, please contact me directly or Jean Nexsen.
Hearts of love lead to the actions of our hands!
Peace, Josie
