The Search Begins!
The Session has called for a Congregational meeting for Sunday, December 10th to hear the recommendation of names from the Nominating Committee for the selection of the Pastor Search Committee. The Nominating Committee has prayerfully and faithfully been guided by the Holy Spirit to a cross section of members that represents the demographics of this church. Each person selected for this slate has a unique gift to offer to the process. They have all been asked and affirmed that they are willing to serve on the Search Committee, should they be elected. On Sunday, you, the congregation, will have the opportunity to vote for those who will lead the process. This is an exciting time. Things are moving forward!
What happens after the meeting? Once the committee is formed they will be trained on the steps of the process and then begin their good work of interviewing pastors. In the age of technology, this will happen in a few ways. Initial interviews will probably take place through online meetings.
As candidates are narrowed down the Search Committee may decide to have in-person interviews, and eventually they will find candidates that they want to visit Kingstree. Through it all there is one common denominator for the Search Committee and the pastor seeking a call. The Holy Spirit will be guiding the Search Committee to the right person and the right fit for this congregation while at the same time guiding that pastor to you. Both will be on a journey, seeking and trusting God’s guidance for the future. I am continually astounded at how well this search process works when people trust God enough to guide them. It is an exciting time, Church. More importantly, it is a holy time. See you Sunday.
Peace, Josie
