I’ve Missed That Sound!
It’s been almost exactly a year since I said it. It had been a full day as we loaded a U-Haul and drove around that state repossessing furniture from our kids. When we retired, we gave most of the furniture to our kids, and we needed it back. We made it to Kingstree, where we were greeted by old friends and a bunch of youngsters to help us unload the truck. After I decided where the furniture would go and cooked a scrumptious meal, it was time for bed. We hadn’t been in bed but just a few minutes when I told Eva, “I’ve miss that sound.” It was the train that runs behind our house. (Well, technically, it belongs to the church.) It was music to our ears, though for the first week that train whistle woke us up a few times a night. I still loved it.
During this time, I love the sound of Easter. I love the hymns that we sing only during the forty days of Lent. I like hearing the Easter story, with its intriguing characters from all walks of life with all sorts of beliefs, and don’t mind making them known. Who couldn’t have loved the sound of kids giggling and waving palm branches on Sunday?
So, make sure you are here this Sunday as we hear those beautiful words,
Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
More soothing than the sound of a train going through your backyard.
Have fun, David
