A Time to Serve
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” — Mark 10:45
This year’s Kingstree Community Youth Annual Canned Food Scavenger Hunt was another inspiring reminder of what can happen when hearts unite in service. Twenty-three energetic youth, five cars with five adult drivers, set out with one mission—to help feed the hungry in our community.
In just 40 minutes, the teams collected 2,193 items! Each can represented an act of love and generosity, proving that when we serve together, great things happen. The group that gathered the most cans received a gift card to King’s Brew, but as our youth were reminded—it’s not about winning. It’s about serving others and sharing God’s love in a tangible way.
All canned goods were delivered to the Felician Center, where they will be distributed to needy families in our community. These donations will help make Thanksgiving meals complete for many who might otherwise go without.
On Tuesday, volunteers gathered once again to pack the food into bags. Each bag contained $40 worth of food, and together they filled 150 bags—$6,000 worth of food in total! What a testimony of God’s provision and the power of community working together in faith.
As we reflect on this season of gratitude and service, may we remember that every can, every bag, every act of kindness is a reflection of Christ’s love at work within us. Truly, this was more than just a scavenger hunt—it was a time to serve.
Thank you to all who participated and donated-Laura
