As part of the Mission Study work and as a way for us to have time in prayer and discussion, I have decided to offer a book study for anyone who would like to take part. In the fall, the officers identified three areas that they would like the church to focus on and seek ways to grow. The first is evangelism, the second is communication, and the third, which is related to both, is relevance and being relevant in the community. The Mission Study team will be asking for your input on these topics at some point during the process and so I thought it would be helpful to find books related to these goals. I have selected three short books by Thom Rainer; I Am A Church Member, Becoming a Welcoming Church, and I Could I Might I Can I Should I Will. The books are designed for questions and group discussion at the end of each chapter. The cost is $15 for all 3 books. If you would like the church to order the books, please sign up in the church office. If you prefer ordering your own, may I suggest christianbooks.com. The book study will begin on February 7th and go each Tuesday through Lent. We will meet in Grace Hall at 12:00. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch and join us for the conversation.
If any of you are interested in an evening discussion group please contact me so that we can talk about what day works best.
Peace, Josie
