“Never Say Never”
This often-used phrase is attributed to the author, Charles Dickens. That is untrue. It has been handed down to parents, especially mothers since Adam and Eve had Cain, Abel, and Seth. There is no indication that the phrase lost its popularity last century, but it was reignited on December 19, 1981, our anniversary. (Don’t look at me.)
So here are a few “nevers” you can reverse this Advent:
NEVER SAY YOU ARE NOT GOING TO THANKSGIVING BREAKFAST at WPC!
Never say you’re too tired to go to the Cantata.
Never say there’s nobody worthy of honoring with a poinsettia.
Never say you won’t go hear children sing Christmas songs.
Never say you won’t sleep through an Advent sermon.
Never say you’re going to lose weight this Christmas.
Never pull for the Dallas Cowboys football team on Christmas Day.
Never take the lift (elevator to the sanctuary. After refusing to even think about riding it for over twenty years, I had to start. It’s not bad.
LASTLY- NEVER rush through Advent. It is too sacred, too precious, too meaningful to ask yourself, “Where did Advent go?”
Have Fun-David
